Burberry is better in a Bugatti.

Updated: Mar 17, 2019

If you’re planning on attending the upcoming Virgin Melbourne Fashion Festival to lust over the latest Balmain and Balenciaga, then chances are you know a thing or two about beautiful clothes. Whilst my friends can describe in finite detail the latest Dion Lee dress, or where to find a bargain Coach handbag, very few of them could pick out a classic Porsche 911 or Jaguar E-Type.

And yes, I am painfully aware of the cost discrepancy between a Burberry trench coat and a Bugatti Chiron, however one can equally appreciate the shared level of craftsmanship, quality of materials and eye-catching design.

Research from the US shows that ‘modern-day’ women are feeling more confident about purchasing a car than our predecessors, however we’re 91% less likely to purchase a Ferrari than a man, and according to Cars Guide Australia are more prudent shoppers.

Manufacturers are beginning to understand the power of influence women have in major purchase decisions, however with almost every mother I see in either a Ford Territory or Mazda CX-9, it’s time we begin our luxury vehicle appreciation journey, before we wake up in a world full of dull 7-seater SUVs.

And if I hear another, “It just gets me from A to B” I might just cry...

Stop being such responsible humans and at least learn to appreciate the art of cars as we do fashion. Let’s face it, we’re not all dripping in Versace as Bruno Mars would have us believe, but Burberry will always look better in a Bugatti - so it’s time to learn your vehicle A-Zs.
